AMS Learning Live: Empowering Multilingual Learners in Montessori Environments

1.5 CPDs, Run Time: 57:42

Multilingualism is important for children in an increasingly global world, and many students join our classroom environments speaking one or more languages other than English. How can we best support bilingual and multilingual children in a monolingual classroom environment? This workshop will explore Montessori language development principles in the first plane of development and how they relate to multiple language acquisition. We’ll discuss ways to support multilingual children’s language development in the Children's House classroom, as well as ways to support families in maintaining their home languages and reassure them that multilingualism benefits children in myriad ways.
