Are the Kids Alright? Post Pandemic Assessment

1.5 CPDs, Run Time 52:59

Since the beginning of the pandemic, parents and educators have been worried about the impact of the pandemic on children’s mental health, worried that a generation of children will be traumatized. In this presentation, Dr. Michael Thompson argues that, despite media reports, our “psychological immune systems” were stronger than we thought and that the vast majority of children coped and remained resilient. What children need now is a warm, structured classroom and high expectations. Join this general session to hear more about what that means for your classroom and community.

Michael G. Thompson, PhD, is a consultant, author, and psychologist specializing in children and families. He has been the supervising psychologist for a Montessori School in Massachusetts, and has worked in more than 700 schools in the United States and internationally in Central America, Europe, Africa, and Asia.
