Habits and Why They Matter: Part 1

1.5 CPDs, Running Time 39:10

Much of what we do is done out of habit—some studies indicate that 40 – 95% of what we think, say, and do falls into this category. Fortunately, our brains can be rewired, if needed, and being with children the way Montessori invites us to can become second nature. This webinar, part 1 of a 3-part series, is an invitation to a deeper understanding of how habits are formed—the first step to creating the types of habits we want and need in our Montessori environments.

Learner Outcomes:

  • Understand why our brains were designed to commit much of what we do to habit.
  • Learn about the process of habit formation.
  • Examine the habits you currently have and begin to understand why you have them.

Presenter: Joshua Shanklin, MEd, has experience as a Montessori Upper Elementary teacher, TEP instructor, and school founder. He is AMS-trained (Elementary II) and AMI-credentialed (Elementary I – II).
