The Prepared Adult: Understanding and Managing Ourselves to Better Serve the Child

The Prepared Adult: Understanding and Managing Ourselves to Better Serve the Child

1.5 CPDs, Run Time: 57:48

Maria Montessori admonished us to prepare ourselves first before entering the Montessori classroom. She instructed us to look deep inside and work hard to let go of our fears, frustrations, prejudices, and judgments in order to better serve and observe the children. In this workshop, we will look at how our past experiences color our perception and study how our personal “triggers” work against our success. We’ll test a variety of methods to transform those emotions and perceptions in the moment and bring ourselves back to the present. Our goal: turn negative energy into positive outcomes!

Donna D'Hoostelaere, MEd, is Head of School at Aldea Montessori in Phoenix, AZ.  In addition to running a school, Donna coaches other school leaders and staff on best practice in Montessori.  She is well known as a speaker at Early Childhood conferences and offers a variety of trainings for parents, teachers and anyone interested in working with children to create positive relationships.   Advanced Trainer, Nurtured Heart Approach, AMI-credentialed (Primary)
